When I first visited FCC I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and God’s love. I was a seminary student at Lutheran School of Theology Chicago and stopped in at FCC for a visit on my way to Chicago. I was scheduled to “help out” and lead worship at FCC the following week. I had no idea what God had planned, but amazingly within 6 months God had called me to serve as the Pastor here.

Prior to answering God’s call to ministry I spent 25+ years in the commercial construction industry in SE Michigan. My years of Project Management have helped me as I serve God and the FCC community. A construction project just does not happen without goals and guidance. There is plenty of pre-construction work to be completed before the project begins. Then all the different teams need to be given a plan with a goal of accomplishment. I have found ministry to be very similar. We have several different ministry teams that work for the same goal; successfully reaching the community with the Word of God.

I have found both of my vocations rewarding and challenging. The best-designed plan can often go off-track and needs to be tweaked to fit the situation. I strive to offer a message that is relevant and helps people cope with the hectic schedules and often troubling news we receive on a daily basis. We need to be honest with ourselves; finding time for “Church” in the society we live in is extremely difficult. Our goal is to focus on what is happening in our society and world and most of all… what God is up to in our lives in the midst of it all.

I have found a church home at FCC and hope to have an opportunity to hear your story.
